Vision Data Hosted Session, Setup, Email Update, 2FA, and Offboarding.

The VNC session for the Hosted Vision Data session can be found at:

\\pascrcorpfs01\IT_Stuff\Software Folder\Vision Data\VD CLOUD  VD_Hosted

Add this VNC session to the users desktop and have them launch the session and login.

The Current users will have the same login as they did in the past with -st appended on them. for example msmit-st and the password should match this user as well. (if the user can not log in with the default password. Look below at the change password section.)

Once they have logged in guide them through the process of changing their password. NO USER IS ALLOWED TO KEEP THE DEFAULT PASSWORD!

Select 2 to change your password from the initial login screen.

Next enter the default password that matches their login and follow the prompts to enter a new password. It must be between 6 and 8 characters long, have at least one number or punctuation character.

The users password should be reset. At this point have the user logout and begin the setup of their 2fa

Setting up 2FA

The First step to getting a user setup with 2FA would be opening the above session and logging in with the st user found in 1pass listed under VD Hosted Acct Manager.

Once logged in select the 2. option to change settings of an existing user.

Then select option 3 to ConfigureMFA

Enter the user's phone number, which should be provided in the ticket and add the service providers domain to the end of the number (ex. 5706667777@vtext.com for verizon). this will allow the system to email the users phone via a text message to send them a 2FA code to authenticate with:

  • AT&T: @txt.att.net
  • Boost Mobile: @sms.myboostmobile.com (not confirmed yet)
  • Cricket: @mms.cricketwireless.net
  • tmobile: @tmomail.net
  • Verizon/tracfone/straight talk: @vtext.com
  • Virgin Mobile: @vmobil.com (not confirmed yet)
  • Xfinity: @vtext.com (not confirmed yet)

Once you add the number and domain hit enter.  You will then be prompted with the option to add an Auth (see below)

Select K to keep current Auth key. Most users will not be setup with an Auth key. If specified to use an AUTH key you would select C to create a new Key. The system will generate a key for the user, you will then:

1. ask them to open up the Duo app on their phone.

2. select the “ + Add” button in the top right corner of the app.

3. Scroll to the bottom of the list of apps and select add other account.

4. Select “ Use Activation code”  and have them enter the code generated from Vision data. and hit Next.

5. Name the account "Vision Data" and Select Save.

Once completed select option 2 to Exit.

On the next screen select 5 TO SAVE CHANGES

Hit 6 to logout of the st user.

Now have the user login with their new password and 2FA and confirm they can get in.

Once the user is logged in double check that their email address has been updated.

Reset email

While the user is logged in navigate to Tools > Preferences > User Options.

If needed, update the domain on the users email address and hit the “ + ” button on the top of the session to save the update.

From here the user is setup.

At this time advise the user to not use this session until IT gives them the green light to do so.

They will continue to use the original in house session.  until we are fully switched over to the hosted Vision data.

Offboarding a user.
