Exporting Page Content and Copying to Other Domains

NOTE: The following step should only be completed after the page is complete and all photos are toned.

IF THE RECEIVING SITE NEEDS STORIES ON THEIR WEBSITES -  THE ORIGINATING SITE MUST MANUALLY ADD THE  APPROPRIATE SITE TAGS TO EACH STORY ON THE SHARD PAGE.

1. With source page open go to File, Save A Copy

2. Save the Page Copy to the COMMON PAGE network share. (Note: If you do not have this share or do not know where it is. Call IT and they will create a shortcut for you.)

3. Close the Source Page

4. Open the COPY Page Via File, Open

5. Navigate to the COPY Page you created click open.

6. Select everything on the page with the selection tool or by using CTRL + A

Then go to the BLOX Total CMS Menu and select “Release Selected Assets”

7. The following Message will appear - select “Yes”

8. Save and close the COPY page.

(At this point If you are just sending the page you can stop and inform the receiving site that its ready for them to pick up - If you are also going to be populating the content on the destination page on behalf of the receiving site then continue)

9. Using the BLOX Total CMS Menu Change Domains to the destination Domain

10. Open the Destination Page like normal; by going to Blox Total CMS - Documents - Open from Blox Total CMS

11. With the Destination Page open Go to FIle and Open (this is the regular Indesign File - Open and not from the Blox Total CMS menu)

12. Navigate to the COPY Page you created on the file server and open it..

13. With the COPY Page active select everything on the page with the selection tool or by using CTRL + A

14. Right click on the selection and Copy.     (NOTE THIS IS THE ONLY TIME YOU WILL EVER DO A COPY IN THE TOWN NEWS SYSTEM)

15. Toggle to the destination page and Paste in Place the content on the Destination Page  ( Paste in place automatically keeps all of the exact positioning of the content from the source page.)

16.The Content from the Copy Page is now on the Destination Page

  • Note that this is raw - on page - content, and will not go to web (unless the original story was tagged accordingly by the source site)
  • E-Edition will not have segmenting for this page and will only show the page image,
  • You can not retone the images on this page, if the images are in color and your page layout is for BW, they will be converted when you print the page to a B and W output)

17. Save and close the page.

18. Open Page Tracker and check the destination page to confirm the content is where it needs to be. (If you do not see the content refresh Page tracker and it should appear. If not, call I.T.)

If all went well you should see a correct PDF Preview and nothing in the Assets Box.
