Upgrading from TCMS to OTF fontsets and new InDesign 2022

The following instructions are for modifying your current workstation to be compatible with the new fonts and templates in use.  Please perform these steps in the following order after a clean restart of your machine with no other applications running.  Please note: the instructions below also apply for any new users or for a user that is logging in on a new workstation for the first time.

Please contact the helpdesk if you are having any issues with this process and we will assist.

Launch Extensis Universal Type Client from the start menu

PLEASE NOTE: BEFORE PROCEEDING!  if you see the logged in user in the top left of the application window as otf@pascruts01 then IT has already transferred your profile for you, and you can disregard the remainder of this process as you will have the correct fonts loaded.

If your logged in user mentions tcms@servername or ip… then please continue

Once UTC opens navigate to the Server menu and select forget connection

Say yes to the resulting message

The cursor will spin for some time as the application unloads the fonts

Once completed you will see a login window similar to this

you will want to modify the login screen as follows

Server: pascruts01

port: 8080

Username: otf

Password: otf

Click Connect

The App will reopen, and you will see a new font workgroup displayed in the upper left called TCMS_OTF_2022, this is your new editorial font set

In the lower left of the screen, you will see the words Replication- Synchronizing with Universal Type server When the replication message clears, the fonts are finished loading

To avoid any activation issues, verify that the INDD22 plugins are activated. Go to Toolsmanage plugins

Verify that the Adobe Indesign 22 plugins are activated (checked) then click Done.

You can now close out of Universal Type Client by clicking the X on the app window. Once this process has been successfully completed on your user on the workstation you should not need to relaunch or actively run the Universal Type Client as it runs in the background on startup.

On your Desktop taskbar locate any shortcuts to IND 21 and unpin it.

Navigate to your start menu and locate the Adobe Indesign 2022 app and right click the app, navigate to more →and select Pin to Taskbar.  The INDD22 icon will appear in the taskbar for you, if you wish to sort or reorder the taskbar quick launch icons simply left click and HOLD; and drag the icons of the apps to whatever order you like, drop the icon when it's in the position you want.

Click the shortcut and launch InDesign 2022, log into TCMS and proceed with pages as normal.
