Remotely connect to your workstation from a PC

_ **Prerequisites: ** _

  • Know what computer you are using by the Asset name on the white sticker. If possible also record your IP address for your workstation.
  • Make sure that when leaving the office each day that you REBOOT your workstation so it is running and waiting for a connection
  • Have a valid Cisco Duo install and set up
  • Have Cisco AnyConnect installed on your remote workstation
  • Remote workstations are required to have a current and supported, actively patched operating system (Windows 10 and up, MacOS 10.13.6 and up), and a commercially available Malware protection from a trusted vendor installed and running with active protection.
  • A home / remote internet connection of DSL speeds or better, minimum of 10Mbps download x 2Mbps upload speeds. Connection preferably hard wired to the router with Cat5e or above cable. (custom length cables can be provided at request.

To remotely connect to your in-office workstation you will first need to be connected to Cisco AnyConnect using your credentials provided, and validate the connection using a Cisco Duo 2FA

If you are using Remote Desktop Connection on your home computer, to connect to your work computer:

  • First connect to anyconnect using Cisco Duo
  • From the start menu launch the  Remote Desktop Connection app (You can find it by searching for "Remote Desktop Connection")
  • Remote Desktop Connection should open a window similar to this

  • In the remote host window put the name of your workstation and click show options at bottom left

  • Enter tshamrock\(yourusername) in the user name field then click the save as button, navigate to your desktop enter a name for the shortcut and save the shortcut, if you had previous shortcut its safe to remove that
  • Double click your new shortcut and you will prompted to enter your computer password but make sure to say no to remember the connection password.
